Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management’s portering teams provide a professional, responsive and attentive movement service to Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
As well as patient movement within our hospital sites, our service currently includes the collection, delivery and movement of samples, supplies, equipment, medical records and post across Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s 10 main sites and a large number of GP surgeries and Health Centres across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear – an area of 5080km²! We deliver a cost-effective, time-critical, secure and professional solution that meets the ever-increasing service demand and statutory legislation requirements, and are able to extend this to others through our Transport and Logistics Service.
We are proud of our green credentials and to date have 18 fully electric vans, with future plans to expand our fleet. As well as reducing the impact we have on the environment, we have made big savings on fuel – money which is better spent on service development and ultimately in benefitting patient care. We are able to advise on the use of Electric Vehicles as part of our Energy and Sustainability Service.
