Making that change requires an estate that supports new service models, makes effective use of space and provides accessible community care. NHFM brings practical NHS estates experience to help organisations understand what they have, identify what they need and develop a deliverable way forward.

NHFM is supporting Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to bring 34 NHS Property Services properties into local management through the development of a robust business case and careful preparation covering property information, tenancies, facilities services and the practical requirements of transition. NHFM worked extensively with multiple stakeholders to understand the existing property portfolio, address tenancy arrangements, and plan how facilities will be managed following the transfer. The business case for the transfer of properties has been approved by NHS England, with a structured route to the transfer of ownership being agreed.

The experience gained throughout this process means that NHFM is uniquely positioned to support NHS organisations through similar processes, developing their neighbourhood services model, supporting delivery of improved patient care in the community.
